BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to determine the authenticity and psychological resilience level of nurses and to assess the relationship between these concepts and the factors related to them. METHODS: The sample of this study included 189 nurses who were working at two hospitals, and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, which was conducted between March 1 and August 20, 2019. The data were collected using Nurse Description Form, Authenticity Scale, and Psychological Resilience Scale. RESULTS: The mean age of the nurses was 31.31±8.25, 92.6% were female, 34.6% had been working as a nurse for nine years or more. Most of the nurses were found to be satisfied with their job, members of an occupational organization, and interested in non-work-related hobbies, and to have goals for the future and support in solving issues (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Results from the study showed that some socio-demographic and about work factors were related to authenticity and psychological resilience. The study also found that as the authenticity levels of the nurses increased, their psychological resilience decreased, which suggests that it is important that nurses be provided psychological support to help them behave more authentic.
