Özet

Transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, as a major public health problem is even mote serious for health care working in dose contact with the blood and body fluids of the patients. The presence of antibody against hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in 75 patients who underwent major head and neck surgery were studied retrospectively. HBsAg and Anti HBsAg (HBsAg antibody) were found positive in 11% and 33% of those patients respectively. This high positive rate in Turkish high sub-population of head and neck cancer patients and the risk for otorhinolaryngology personnel are discussed.
