Biography

Assoc. Prof. Sümeyra Gazel is a highly experienced academic and researcher specializing infinancial markets, investment analysis, and financial research focusing on emerging markets. She has been a dedicated faculty member at Yozgat Bozok University since 2007 and currently serves as the Head of the Department of Finance and Banking. Dr. Gazel earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration (Finance) from Erciyes University in 2013, following her undergraduate studies in Business Administration at the same institution. She began her academic career as a Research Assistant at Yozgat Bozok University, where she quickly advanced in both teaching and research. In 2013, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor, and her significant contributions to the field of finance led to her promotion to Associate Professor in 2020. Throughout her career, Dr. Gazel has held several key leadership positions, including serving as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences from 2014 to 2018, and as the Founding Director of the Career and Alumni Center at Yozgat Bozok University from 2020 to 2023. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing the university's academic and research missions. Dr. Gazel's research interests are diverse, encompassing market dynamics, financial instruments, and the intersection of macroeconomic variables with financial markets. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, exploring topics such as behavioral finance, the relationship between stock prices and energy prices, and the role of social media-based uncertainty in financial volatility. In addition to her research, Dr. Gazel is a dedicated educator, teaching a wide range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has successfully supervised numerous theses, guiding students through complex research projects that contribute to the fields of finance and economics.
