Özet:

This study was carried out in order to examine the effect of the "Increasising Awareness of Immigrant Men Towards Their Health" (IHAPIM) Program, which was prepared according to the Transition Theory of Meleis, on the health perceptions, health responsibilities, perceived stress levels, methods of coping with stress and levels of health services use of immigrant men. Material and Method: This study, which was planned in accordance with the principles of a randomized controlled double-blind pre-test post-test control group experimental study, was conducted with immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 50, living in Canik and İlkadım districts of Samsun, where immigrants live heavily. The study was completed with 49 men in the experimental group and 46 men in the control group. Results: In the study; The average age of immigrant men in the experimental group is 31.15 ± 7.50, and the average of control group is 34.04±9.33. At the end of the training program, the health perception scale, healthy lifestyle behaviors scale, health responsibility sub-dimension, the perceived stress scale, the total score and sub-dimensions of the immigrants' attitudes towards using health services, and the stress coping methods scale were in the mean scores of the men in the experimental group. There was a significant difference compared to preeducation (p <0.05). Conclusions: In line with the results obtained in the study, it was found that the program prepared and applied to immigrant men according to the transition theory of Meleis was very effective in raising the health perceptions of men and increasing their health responsibilities, reducing their perceived stress level, developing methods of coping with stress and increasing their level of use of health services.
