This current study aims to evaluate the Ph.D. ELT programs in Turkey in terms of
program descriptions, program content, and atmosphere in the department, as well
as departmental support and program resources. The study seeks to further explore
course components such as research component, linguistics component, educational
sciences component, methodology component, and literature and culture courses
component. The participants of the study were students enrolled in Ph.D. ELT
programs and graduates who had already graduated from these
programs. The final aim of the study is to suggest a syllabus for these programs
depending on the findings. The study was conducted to shed a light on these
programs. The study also serves as a needs analysis which is a very important point
for the betterment of every ongoing educational program.
