Dinin toplumsal
The role of
religion in social life remains on the agenda as one of the popular discussion
topics of today as it was in the past. These discussions also arouse curiosity
about what religion means in terms of establishing social relations for
individuals, how important it is, and in which relationship and activity areas
of daily life it is a reference source. This study does not deal with the
otherworldly meanings of religion for individuals. Therefore, it has been
discussed whether religion is used in social relations and activities, like all
kinds of information used in daily life. It was also investigated whether the
use of religion changes according to the demographic characteristics of
individuals. The universe of this research, in which quantitative and
qualitative research techniques are used together, is the central district of
Isparta province and the rural areas within the borders of the mujawir area.
The sample of the study determined with 99% confidence level and ± 5% margin of
error, considering the population aged 18 and over living within the stated
limits. The data obtained as a result of the application of the questionnaire
created to test the hypotheses of the research to the subjects were analyzed
using the chi-square independence test. Ethics committee approval was obtained
from the the Social and Human Sciences Ethics Committee of Süleyman Demirel
University (Decision no: 100/5 Dated: 28.12.2020). According to the results of
the research; religion or religious values are among the criteria taken into
consideration especially in terms of family relations, friendship and
neighborly relations. On the other hand, although religious values are among
the factors affecting the commercial relations established in working life and
the relations established in the shopping processes, it cannot be said that
religion has a decisive role in these relations. In addition, it was determined
that the effect of religion on these relationships differed in terms of
education level, occupational status, place of birth and marital status
variables.
