Abstract
This study examines the life, scholarly identity, and contributions of Qurrāʾ Ḥāfiẓ Fazlı Lekesiz, who played a significant role in the history of religious education in Yozgat during the Republican era. Beginning his memorization and qirāʾāt education at an early age, Lekesiz further developed his knowledge through instruction received from distinguished scholars in both Istanbul and Yozgat. He became particularly prominent in the fields of tajwīd training (taʿlīm), phonetic correction (taṣḥīḥ al-ḥurūf), and the ten canonical modes of recitation (wujūh al-ʿashara), gaining recognition as an authoritative figure in the science of qirāʾāt.
Starting his professional career as a Qurʾān course instructor, Lekesiz introduced a systematic and aesthetic approach to Qurʾānic education in Yozgat. Through the students he trained and the educational model he implemented, he established a lasting educational tradition on a regional scale. The study also analyzes his contributions to the foundation process of Yozgat Imam Hatip School, his teaching activities, and his efforts toward the institutionalization of religious education.
In addition, the research evaluates his long-standing service as an imam-preacher, his representative role in the field of qirāʾāt, and his activities within civil society, thereby revealing his multidimensional understanding of religious service. His contributions to the establishment process of Yozgat Higher Islamic Institute are also discussed as one of the central themes of the study.
The study argues that Fazlı Lekesiz left a lasting impact on the religious and cultural life of Yozgat through his Qurʾān-centered educational approach, institutional contributions, and the generations of students he trained, transforming a locally rooted legacy into a broader sphere of influence.
Bu çalışma, Yozgat’ın Cumhuriyet dönemi dinî eğitim tarihinde önemli bir yere sahip olan Kurrâ Hâfız Fazlı Lekesiz’in hayatını, ilmî kişiliğini ve Kur’ân eğitimine sunduğu katkıları ele almaktadır. Erken yaşta başladığı hâfızlık ve kıraat eğitimini İstanbul ve Yozgat’taki seçkin hocalardan aldığı derslerle geliştiren Lekesiz, özellikle tâlim, tashîh-i hurûf ve vücûh-i aşere alanlarında temayüz ederek kıraat sahasında yetkin bir isim haline gelmiştir. Kur’ân kursu öğreticiliğiyle başlayan hizmet hayatı boyunca Yozgat’taki Kur’ân eğitimine metodik ve estetik bir anlayış kazandırmış; yetiştirdiği talebeler ve uyguladığı eğitim modeliyle bölgesel ölçekte etkili bir eğitim geleneği oluşturmuştur.
Çalışmada ayrıca Fazlı Lekesiz’in Yozgat İmam Hatip Okulu’nun kuruluş sürecindeki katkıları, öğretmenlik faaliyetleri ve dinî eğitimin kurumsallaşmasına yönelik çalışmaları incelenmektedir. Bunun yanında uzun yıllar sürdürdüğü imam-hatiplik görevi, kıraat ilmindeki temsil kabiliyeti ve sivil toplum faaliyetleri değerlendirilerek onun çok yönlü din hizmeti anlayışı ortaya konulmaktadır. Yozgat Yüksek İslam Enstitüsü’nün kuruluş sürecindeki katkıları da çalışmanın ele aldığı temel başlıklar arasında yer almaktadır.
Araştırma, Fazlı Lekesiz’in Kur’ân merkezli eğitim anlayışı, yetiştirdiği insan kaynağı ve kurumsal katkılarıyla Yozgat’ın dinî ve kültürel hayatında kalıcı bir iz bıraktığını; yerel ölçekte başlayan hizmetlerinin zamanla daha geniş bir etki alanına ulaştığını ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır.
