The Headache Needs Assessment (HANA) survey: psychometric properties of the Turkish version in migraine

Özet
Objectives: This study aimed to cross-culturally adapt and validate the Turkish version of the 7-item Headache Needs Assessment (HANA) survey in individuals with migraine. Methods: Structural validity was evaluated using Exploratory (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in 79 participants. Reliability was assessed via Cronbach’s α, Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), and Bland-Altman plots. Convergent validity was analyzed by correlating HANA with the Headache Disability Inventory (HDI), Headache Impact Test-6 (HIT-6), Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and Migraine Disability Assessment (MIDAS). Results: EFA revealed a two-factor structure for HANA A (explaining 68.81% of variance) and a single-factor structure for HANA B, confirmed by acceptable CFA indices. Cronbach’s α exceeded 0.879 and ICC ranged from 0.784 to 0.836, indicating excellent reliability. HANA correlated moderately-to-strongly with HDI (p =.000; r = 0.622) and HIT-6 (p =.000; r = 0.481), but weakly with VAS (p =.000; r = 0.389) and MIDAS (p =.068; r = 0.206). Conclusion: The Turkish HANA possesses robust psychometric properties for clinical and research use. Clinical Trials Number: NCT06675279.
