Abstract
With the widespread use of digital media, the
culture of blogger motherhood has become an important phenomenon transforming
parenting practices. Among the positive aspects of this culture are its ability
to reach mothers, providing information sharing and solidarity, making the
motherhood experience visible, and its potential to raise awareness when used
correctly. However, the negative aspects are more notable; much of the shared
information lacks scientific basis and is intertwined with consumer culture, leading
to the spread of unverified information regarding newborn and child health.
This situation creates feelings of inadequacy among follower mothers, violates
children's privacy, and increases the risk of digital abuse. In this context,
midwives, with their holistic care approach covering the preconception period,
birth, and postpartum period, provide comprehensive education, counseling, and
emotional and practical support to expectant mothers and fathers. Furthermore,
by raising awareness among families against misinformation on social media,
they guide them on how to access accurate and reliable information, and by
fostering digital parenting awareness, they play an active role in protecting
children from digital abuse.
In conclusion, while the solidarity
opportunities offered by blogger motherhood culture should not be ignored,
scientifically based, reliable, and individualized parenting guidance can only
be achieved through the systematic education, counseling, and support
mechanisms of health professionals such as midwives. This review aims to
discuss the effects of the blogger motherhood phenomenon on parenting and to
highlight the importance of midwives' educational, counseling, and supportive
roles in the face of this culture from a scientific perspective.
