Sözcükler arasında zamana ve değişime karşı hayatta kalabilenler, gündelik hayatta sıklıkla kullanılan temel söz varlığı ögeleridir. Bunlar, standart dildeki kullanım sıklıklarıyla orantılı olarak anlam genişlemesi, anlam daralması ve/veya anlam kaybı yaşayabilmektedir. Bunun sonucunda sözcüklere ait bazı anlamlar, standart dilde kullanımdan düşmekte fakat ağızlarda uzun süre varlıklarını sürdürebilmektedir. Ayrıca bu anlamlar; deyim, atasözü, ikileme vb. tecrübe temelli kalıplaşmış söz varlığı ögelerinde görülebilmektedir. Bu sözcüklerden biri de çalışmaya konu olan gündür -kün-. Temel anlamı “güneş” olan sözcüğün, Eski Türkçe döneminden bu yana soyut bir kavram olan kutu karşıladığı pek çok örnek vardır. Köktürkler döneminden beri “Tanrı tarafından verilen şans” anlamındaki kut, farklı Türk boylarına ait mit ve destanlarda da görülen bir başka deyişle tarihin farklı dönemlerinde Türklerin hayatında yer edinmiş ilahi nitelikli bir kavramdır ve zaman içerisinde anlam alanını genişletmiştir. Çalışmada, sözcüğün Türkler için önemi, sözcükle kut kavramı arasındaki ilişki, Eski Türkçe, Eski Anadolu Türkçesi, Türkiye Türkçesi ile Türkiye Türkçesi Ağızlarındaki yeri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Sözcüğün temel anlamı olan “güneş”in etkisiyle ortaya çıkan kut kavramına karşılık gelen anlamlarını tespit edebilmek amacıyla Türk diline ait çeşitli sözlüklere, tarihî lehçelere ait edebî eserlere ve edebî eserler üzerine yapılmış bilimsel çalışmalardaki deyim ve atasözlerine başvurulmuştur.
Among the words, those that can survive against time and change are the basic vocabulary items that are frequently used in daily life. These may experience semantic expansion, semantic contraction and/or loss of meaning in direct proportion to their frequency of use in the standard language. As a result, some meanings of words fall out of use in the standard language, but they can continue to exist in dialects for a long time. In addition these meanings, idioms, proverbs, reduplication, etc. it can seen in experience-based stereotyped vocabulary items. One of these words is the gün -kün-, which is the subject of the study. There are many examples where the word, whose basic meaning is "sun", corresponds to the abstract concept kut since the Old Turkish period. Kut, which means "luck given by God" since the time of the Kökturks, is a divine concept that has been seen in the myths and epics of different Turkish tribes, in other words, has taken a place in the lives of Turks in different periods of history, and has expanded its meaning over time. In the study, was tried to determine the importance of the word for Turks, the relationship between the word and the concept of kut, and its place in Old Turkish, Old Anatolian Turkish, Modern Turkish and Modern Turkish Dialects. In order to determine the meanings corresponding to the concept of kut, which emerged with the effect of "sun", which is the basic meaning of the word, various dictionaries of the Turkish Language, the literary works of the historical dialects and the idioms and proverbs in the scientific studies on literary works were consulted.
