Abstract

Sixteen xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis cases who were followed at Gastrointestinal Surgery Unit of Turkiye Yuksek Ihtisas Hospital between the years of 1990 March-1996 March were included in the study. The age of the patients varied between 34 and 67 with an average of 51. Ten patients were male and 6 were female. Twelve patients suffered from acute cholecystitis. In three patients xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis coexisted with gallbladder carcinome.
