This article aims to examine the representations of “news,” “journalist,” and ‘journalism’ in the Netflix series “Kuş Uçuşu” within the framework of the political economy of digital platforms. The series was chosen as the object of research because it focuses on the profession of journalism and news reporting. The study adopts a critical economic-political approach and, within this scope, problematizes the production phase of series on digital platforms, focusing on production companies that create content for digital platforms. Production companies in Turkey that produce content for Netflix and other digital series platforms also produce content for traditional television; therefore, these companies are not free from or independent of the political economy of the series industry in Turkey. In this sense, the study explains how the political economy of digital platforms affects the representations found on these platforms, using the example of journalistic representation.
