INTERNATIONAL BALIKESIR ACADEMIC RESEARCH CONGRESS ON HEALTH SCIENCES, Balıkesir, Türkiye, 10 - 12 Ekim 2025, (Özet Bildiri)
While digital violence is a situation that almost everyone in virtual environments can experience at any
time, it has been observed that some individuals are more exposed to it. Young users, girls, and women are
particularly prominent among these individuals. At this point, the effects of historically constructed
inequalities in societies, such as discrimination against women, have become even more pronounced in the
digital world. Online versions of offline discrimination have become prominent, and attempts to keep
women in an inferior position have also become prevalent in online spaces. The literature indicates that
women are the most exposed and affected by digital violence in terms of gender. This review aims to draw
attention to digital violence against women by presenting the concept, its causes, and its impact on women,
based on the literature.
