Özet

Disadvantaged groups in society are segments of the population that experience negative outcomes in terms of access to health services and health outcomes due to various factors such as socioeconomic inequalities, migration and disability. Children, the elderly, poor individuals, migrants, and people with disabilities are among these groups. Addressing these inequalities requires preventive services, accessible healthcare provision, policy regulations, and community-based interventions. Midwifery plays a critical role in this process. Midwives are active in identifying the health needs of disadvantaged individuals, facilitating their access to basic services, providing education and counselling, and advocating effectively. Focusing particularly on maternal and child health, they provide comprehensive care from pre-pregnancy to the postpartum period. Through their fieldwork and home visits, they reach these individuals, strengthen their health literacy, and encourage the adoption of positive health behaviours. Their collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is of great importance in terms of the continuity and inclusiveness of services. In conclusion, improving the health status of disadvantaged groups is possible through the combination of midwives' active contributions at the clinical and social levels and inclusive strategies at the policy level. The compilation includes midwifery approaches targeting disadvantaged groups in community-based health services.
