Özet

Multiple sclerosis (MS) etiology of which is unknown, is a demyelinating disease of white matter of the central nervous system. In comparison with the other issues of rehabilitation medicine, MS shows a different feature with causing progressive disease and disability. Because of this reason, the treatments targeting to diminish symptoms and attacks and the plans of rehabilitation should be done according to the patient. The aim of rehabilitation of a patient with MS can be summarized as to preserve the functional independence, to augment the mobility, to increase the secunty of the patient against trauma and to decrease the energy expenditure. Periodic rehabilitation programmes were recommended to carry on the success of rehabilitation and to decrease the costs. In this review, we tried to enlighten the rehabilitation efforts directed to the effects of MS on daily living activities.
