Plants are exposed many environmental stress factors that damage cell membranes. There are many ion channels in plant cell membranes. These channels are responsible for the passage of some ions. Calcium channel is one most important channels and the leakage of calcium from the cell membrane can be used as an indicator that cells are damaged under stress factors. Materials and In the current experiment, a method was created by examining the calcium leaking from the membrane calcium channel under salinity and high lime stress. A strawberry plant (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) cv. Monterey was grown under 35 mM sodium chloride or 8.1 soil pH. The plants were evaluated at 60 days after the treatments initiation. The study evaluated cell membrane calcium channel disorder. Both stress factors decreased the total chlorophyll value. When malondialdehyde (MDA) was examined, salinity stress increased significantly compared to the control group, while lime stress did not affect it statistically. The current study offers a quick and inexpensive method of calcium leakage measurement as a predictive test for screening stress level.
