This study evaluated the effects of different bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars on the biological performance and population dynamics of Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae). Experiments were conducted using nine registered bread wheat cultivars, and the aphids’ developmental durations, adult longevity, reproductive traits, and age–stage, two-sex life table parameters were assessed under controlled laboratory conditions. Additionally, population projections over a 60-day period were performed based on life table data, using an initial cohort of 10 nymphs. The results showed that all biological and demographic parameters differed significantly among wheat cultivars. Shorter developmental periods, higher intrinsic rates of increase (r), greater net reproductive rates (R0), and larger projected population sizes were observed on the Glosa, Cömert 2, and Bagira cultivars. In contrast, aphids reared on Tosunbey and Hüseyinbey exhibited delayed development, reduced reproductive capacity, and markedly suppressed population growth. These findings indicate that host plant resistance plays a critical role in limiting R. padi populations and suggest that resistant wheat cultivars can be effectively incorporated as a sustainable component of integrated pest management programmes.
