XVI. Yüzyılın İkinci Yarısında Edremit’te Suç
ve Ceza
Bu
çalışma toplumun kıyılarında yaşayan marjinallerin eylemleri üzerinden XVI.
yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Edremit’in sosyo-ekonomik hayatına farklı bir açıdan
Her
Her

Crime and Punishment in Edremit in the Second
Half of the 16th Century
This
study aims to look at the socio-economic life of Edremit from a different
perspective in the second half of the 16th century, through the actions of the marginalized
living on the margins of the society. The history of criminals in social
history research is becoming more and more interesting for researchers. Because
for a healthy understanding of any society, the actions of all segments of the
society should be looked at.
The
phenomenon of crime is as old as the history of humanity and has continued its
existence in every society.
Actions
that are prohibited by law are called crimes, and actions that are not
tolerated by society are called deviations. The sanction of the crime is
punishment, and the sanction of deviation is social condemnation.
Every
crime brings together people from the same community, a perpetrator and a
victim. Incidents such as theft, adultery, prostitution, smuggling and insult
show another dimension of social relations, even if they are negative.
There
are the rich, the poor, the artisan as well as criminals in every society. As
well as the actions of women, shopkeepers and administrators, the actions of
those who commit crimes are also included in the parts of the whole called
society. There may be social and economic factors as well as psychological
reasons that push criminals to commit crimes. Second half of the 16th century; Although it was a
period of great achievements for the Ottoman Empire outside, it was the year
when the Celali Gangs destroyed Anatolia, the security was broken and there
were economic problems. If social and economic problems also contribute to the
emergence of crime, it becomes possible to see the reflections of these
problems in society by investigating the actions of criminals. Therefore,
investigating the actions of criminals helps us to have more detailed
information about social life.
