Abstract

Silene gevasica Hamzaoglu sp. nova is described as a new species from Gevas district (Van province). The specimen was collected from calcareous rocks, at an altitude between 2100 and 2200 m from Artos mountain. The new species is similar to Silene araratica Schischk. The differences between these 2 taxa are discussed.
